VAN GOGH VODKA
The Birth of the Brand – Inspired by a Masterpiece
Van Gogh Vodka was born in the Netherlands in 2000, out of a vision to create a high-quality, artistic vodka that embodies the spirit of innovation and creativity of the great Dutch painter. The brand set out to produce flavored vodka, with each flavor being a work of art in itself—just like a Van Gogh painting.
The Founder – Dave Van Velde
The brand was founded by Dave Van Velde, an American entrepreneur who believed that vodka could be more than just a drinkתit could be a complete sensory experience. Dave coined the phrase: “We don’t compete with our competitors we compete with nature.” He believed that every flavor should be authentic, natural, and reflect its true origin. For example, if you want to know if Van Gogh’s espresso flavor is truly delicious, just taste a real Italian espresso. If you want to understand the chocolate flavor—take a bite of Godiva and you’ll get it.
The Master Distiller – Tim Vos
The creativity and precision of Van Gogh Vodka reach their peak thanks to Tim Vos, the third generation of a family of master distillers in the Netherlands. Tim is known for his uncompromising standards—he crafts the flavors himself, sometimes even late at night at home, and brings the samples to the distillery’s labs the next morning. This is how the V Cool Peach flavor was born—from peaches grown in his own garden. To achieve the perfect pineapple flavor, the distillery sourced pineapples .from around the world until the exact variety was found.
Raw Materials – Dutch Wheat and Pure Water
The vodka is made from premium Dutch wheat, which gets its unique taste from the proximity to the sea and its salty breezes, and from pure, clear water—a gift of the rich Dutch soil. Every flavor undergoes a meticulous distillation process, ensuring a smooth, soft, and deep result.
Flavors – Masterpieces in a Bottle, Thanks to the Classic Base
As one leading spirits journalist wrote, “The Marvelous flavors of Van Gogh Vodka could never have been achieved without the exceptional quality of the classic white vodka, which is triple-distilled and filtered through active charcoal. Only thanks to this clean, soft, and balanced base can each flavor—whether it’s Espresso, Chocolate, Peach, or Pineapple—truly shine, natural and precise. This isn’t just another flavored vodka; it’s an art of balancing natural ingredients with one of the world’s finest white vodkas.”
Master distiller Tim Vos explains that “the search for the right flavors is long and demanding, but everything starts with the quality of the base. If the white vodka wasn’t perfect, the flavors would never reach this level.”

International Success and Inspiration for the Future
The brand has won numerous international awards and has become a symbol of quality, creativity, and innovation. Just as Van Gogh’s paintings have become some of the most valuable in the world (the most expensive sold for $147 million, and even the least expensive for tens of millions), so too is Van Gogh Vodka considered a liquid work of art—one that may one day have its own museum to honour its exceptional quality.
